Creating snippets

Use the three-step editor to publish your first snippet.

Start the editor

Open /new directly, or press / and choose /new in the command box.

/new

Three steps

  1. Language — pick the primary language. The dependency list is filtered by this choice.
  2. Dependencies — optional; only entries linked to the chosen language are listed.
  3. Details — add the title, description, tags, visibility, group and code.

The code editor highlights syntax based on the selected language. The title is used to generate the URL. If that URL name is already used in your account, a number is appended (-2, -3) and the success screen shows the final URL.

  • Up to five free-form tags.
  • At most one group per snippet.
  • Visibility: public, unlisted or private.
